BDS 4 Inch Lift Kit | 1982-1986 Jeep CJ5/CJ7 | w/ NX2 Nitro Series Shocks

Configured with NX2 Nitro Series shocks featuring a nitrogen-charged twin-tube design, 10-stage velocity-sensitive valving, dual-welded ends for increased strength, a 1-3/8-inch high-flow piston, self-lubricating seals, and a silver powder coat finish with vehicle-specific valving for better control.

Overview

BDS Suspension engineered this 4-inch lift kit specifically for 1982–1986 Jeep CJ5 and CJ7 to improve stance, performance, and off-road capability. The kit includes everything needed to complete the installation and provides clearance for up to 33-inch tires. Included components consist of front and rear Glide-Ride leaf springs with new U-bolts, a steering pitman arm, and a transfer case drop. Your choice of NX2 Nitro Series or FOX 2.0 Performance Series shocks rounds out the kit with specially tuned damper performance.

Glide-Ride Leaf Springs

BDS Glide-Ride leaf springs use a multi-leaf progressive spring rate design with an exclusive triple-stage construction. Features include tapered leafs, anti-friction pads, bolt-style leaf alignment clamps, and a full military wrap to protect spring eyes. These springs provide a smooth ride under varying loads and deliver flexibility throughout the full suspension cycle.

Important Notes

• Vehicles equipped with the optional Dana 44 axle will require 040005 (Qty. 4) U-bolts listed in the accessories.
• If your vehicle is equipped with manual steering, you can buy the kit without the PS pitman arm, but BDS Suspension does not offer a manual steering pitman arm. You will need to acquire this from another source.
• If your vehicle is equipped with an anti-sway bar, a sway bar extension kit (available in the accessories section) will be necessary for your sway bar to function properly.
• If your CJ is heavy in the rear (i.e. hard top with full size spare), consider the 114208 add-a-leaf kit in the options to stiffen up the rear leaf springs and reduce the possibility of low rear ride height. This is recommended for all CJ8 Scramblers.
• Shackle bushing kit 074002 listed in the accessories is highly recommended.
• Extended brake lines recommended.
