The extra-thick aluminum bar design gives a larger radius for synthetic rope to slide against, which means less wear and tear on the rope resulting in a longer service life. These fairleads wear a super-durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gunmetal gray hard-anodized finish with a laser engraved logo. This finish is, hands down, the best choice for a hawse fairlead. The finish leaves a .002?-thick Al2O3 ceramic coating that is in the top-five hardest materials known to mankind (not far away from diamond hardness).
